Building businesses to full potential
The Newprint Group was established to acquire businesses with unrealized potential. We strengthen their operations so each company can leave a lasting imprint on its market.

Developing the potential within a business
The Newprint Group focuses on businesses with sound underlying potential and room for stronger operations, management, and direction. Opportunities may arise from outdated practices, fragmented ownership, or incentives that could be better aligned.
Acquisition is the starting point. Development means strengthening financial controls, improving daily operations, investing in people, and planning for the long term. In fragmented industries, it may eventually include bringing compatible businesses together.
Financial performance gives a business the means to invest, employ people, and improve service. The aim is to align profitability with employee reward and measurable customer value, so people can earn more by improving the service they deliver.
Kevin is working with a management team toward a first healthcare-facility acquisition in Southern California. The transaction remains in development.
Kevin Canaber
I started using the name “Newprint” around 2014 as a handle for my creative projects. Copywriting then became the first professional skill I deliberately developed. I badly wanted to master it, so I devoured book after book and paid top dollar for mentorship with whatever funds I had at the time.
I took on small jobs, high paying jobs, and sometimes worked on spec. Over those ten years, I went through hundreds of interviews and negotiations. This kind of exposure would become very useful later. Copywriting has wide-reaching applications, so it led me into economics, history, philosophy, and psychology, which broadened the way I understood business.
During the pandemic, I returned to college to establish a career in business. Alongside my studies, I worked in healthcare administration before moving into a family owned construction company. There, I learned how administration and operations make a business work.
I studied entrepreneurship in my own way, learning from the great pioneers who came before me. I’m with Polaroid founder Edwin H. Land on the importance of establishing a reliable relationship with the past. I’ve heeded that advice ever since I first heard it, and it naturally became one of Newprint’s basic credos: Study the past so we do not repeat its mistakes. Find out what was right and build on it.
Newprint was originally a play on the word “blueprint,” a guide for building. It came to mean a lot more, representing my ambition to build new things which leave an enduring imprint on the world.
Defining moments
Returning with purpose
In 2024, Kevin completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Cal Poly Pomona with Dean’s List recognition and entered its MBA program, which he is currently completing. His return to education reflected a renewed commitment to a career in business.
Cultivating strong willpower
During my first six months in a new industry, while still an undergraduate, I learned skilled nursing bookkeeping and billed more than $1 million in previously unbilled claims. The work was audited and cleared, and I received a bonus for the result. I got there by not being afraid to ask questions and asking lots of them.
Turning questions into learning
Kevin’s operational questions became a substantial basis for a three-day regional training program for business-office staff across Southern and Northern California. That contribution connects understanding operational problems with investing in people’s knowledge.
Taking on responsibility
Within approximately one year of entering office-based healthcare operations, Kevin progressed into a business-office manager and department-head role. It was my first time being responsible not just for my own work but for a department.
From people I've worked with
“Kevin is one of the hardest workers I have ever employed.”
Chris O’Rorke
“He is dependable and has a good attitude at work. I wish him the best.”
Adel Mancini
“Kevin always brings in a positive attitude no matter how stressful the situation may be. Kevin is constantly giving 100% into his work. His persistence helps him overcome challenging situations.”

How I think about building a business
Treat people as you would want to be treated
I believe in the Golden Rule as James Cash Penney applied it to business. Give employees, customers, partners, lenders, and suppliers the same consideration you would want in return.
Apply standards fairly
Justice in the workplace begins with applying the same standards to everyone. People perform better when they can trust that decisions will be made fairly and without favoritism.
Invest in capable people
Provide training, tools, incentives, and opportunities to advance, alongside clear expectations and accountability.
Measure what matters
If you cannot measure what is happening, you cannot know whether you are improving. Reliable reporting makes it possible to test assumptions, identify problems, and make better decisions.
Lead by example
The responsibility, punctuality, and willingness to acknowledge mistakes that I expect from others must begin with me.
Earn the right to expand
Honor financial obligations. Support growth with cash flow, sound controls, and the ability to operate well.
An institution
built to last
I want to build a holding company with businesses across several industries, focusing on those that are most meaningful to me and where innovation and entrepreneurship can be carried to their highest level. I have developed ideas for improving operations, developing operators, and raising standards of production and service.
We will look five, ten, and twenty years ahead while earning each stage of expansion through demonstrated results.
Over time, I want each company to set an example within its industry. Ultimately, I want to build an institution that outlasts its owner and remains in business as long as there is profit to earn and success to pursue.
